uni course thoughts

This year has been great so far. I've had a lot more freedom to paint things I enjoy painting. I think the group project I'm doing is going well too. I've got a very strong team and hopefully, if things go to plan, we should have a really cool level. I'll post up some shots of my personnel assets I've made closer to the time. The amount of work has been insane. I've just about managed to stay on top of it, but I can see why some people fall behind easily. I did for a week. I have fell behind on the blog side of things, but I will write the remaining blogs over the next few weeks.

Masters Study

Masters study of Jean-Léon Gérôme painting: Pollice Verso (thumbs down)

Painted in photoshop. Tried to mimic the different layers of paint the artist achieved using oils. Spent about 20 hours altogether, I could have spent more, and I even had to crop the image simply because I have no more time to complete it, as I've got a lot more uni work to do. Was pleased with the outcome, but I'm still not comfortable 'copying' another artists work. On the other hand I think I've widened my view of applying colour digitally.

Guild Hall

went to the old guild hall in Leicester the other day to do some sketching and to get a feel for the atmosphere. This is the final I came up with.
